NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale's starting outfield - leftfielder Courtney Blachford (Highland Park, NJ), centerfielder Ashley Sloan (Elk Grove Village, IL) and rightfielder Lauren Huddleston (Brentwood, TN) - all earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition, the Ivy League announced today. Utility player Holly Gutterud (Riverside, CA) also was named honorable mention All-Ivy.

Blachford, a senior, set career highs in runs scored (23), RBI (12), batting average (.308) and triples (3). Her .308 average was second on the team, and she led the team in triples. In Ivy play she started all 20 games and batted .286.

Sloan, a sophomore, led the Bulldogs in batting (.377), hits (52) and stolen bases (11). Her .377 average was the 10th-best in a season in Yale history. In league games she batted .370.

Huddleston, a sophomore, appeared in 36 games and was fifth on the team with a .287 batting average. She tied for third in doubles (5) and was successful on all four of her stolen base attempts. In addition, she made only two errors in 34 chances in the outfield. In Ivy games she batted .282.

Gutterud, a sophomore, earned honorable mention recognition for the second straight year. At the plate she batted .288 overall and .405 in 13 Ivy games. In the circle she had a 3-1 overall record with a 2.97 earned run average.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 20-25-1 overall record. Yale has won at least 20 games in seven of the last eight years.
