Kennedy competed in the later half of the meets in the 2004-2005 season, contributing consistent performances in the floor exercise. Kennedy's best performances came against Pittsburg and Florida, and at the ECAC Championships, where she earned 9.6 for her floor routine.

In her second season, she consistently got the team off to a strong start in the floor exercise, posting a high score of 9.75 and establishing herself as an essential member of the floor lineup.

In her rookie year, she was able to showcase her talent on the beam as well. She was a member of the Ivy Classic championship team in her freshman year. Prior to Yale, she had several years of elite training experience and was a three-time elite nationals qualifier. Kennedy took 10th place in the all-around at the 1999 American Challenge. She trained at CATS Gymnastics and is a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
