Drew both swam and dove for his high school, qualifying for the Arizone state championships all four years of high school and winning five medals. He was a four time All-American and an Academic All American and holds both school and state records for diving in the 4A Division. Additionally, as a senior, he helped lead his high school soccer team to the State Tournament.

Drew started diving at the age of 10 with Clavadistas del Sol, whom he represented in various West National and National meets. Drew was involved in many facets of his high school including school publications, Habitat for Humanity, and SADD. His favorite sporting moment was coming from behind in the 200 Medley Relay at Arizona state finals to take third place.
