During his juior year at Yale, Charlie rowed in the six seat of the varsity eight. He was also a member of the varsity eight in his sophomore year, and as a freshman rowed in the Grand Final at IRAs, finishing third.

At New Canaan High School, Charlie lettered all four years in crew. In 2003 and 2004 he was a member of the U.S. Junior National team.

Charlie is a senior in Pierson College majoring in History. His interests include video games such as NHL '99, as well as playing golf and working out. His younger brother Henry is also a member of the Yale heavyweight crew team. In the summer of 2006, Charlie rowed two-seat of the U.S. Under-23 4x at the Under-23 World Championships in Hazewinkel, Belgium.
