Youth Days
Yale Football Youth Day
Each fall, the COC's yearly schedule is
celebrated with a kick-off Football Youth Day.
New Haven youth fill the Yale fields to participate in a morning
of sports! Over 300 youth
and 100 Yale student-athletes and coaches participate in instructional
sports clinics for lacrosse, hockey, basketball, and baseball/softball.
This exciting event also includes opening ceremonies, a free
picnic lunch and free admission to the Yale University football
competition that afternoon.
Yale Hockey Youth Day
Each winter, Hockey Youth Day is scheduled around a
chosen Yale Men's Ice Hockey game.
All youth attending the game receive a Yale Men's Ice Hockey
Autograph brochure and the opportunity to meet players and coaches and
receive autographs after the game.
Winter Youth Day
One special winter Saturday, New Haven youth are
invited to attend all Yale home athletic events free of charge. Yale athletes from fall and spring sports teams are on hand
to spend time with the youth in attendance, lead tours of Payne Whitney
Gym and attend all contests.
Olympic Youth Day
At this annual spring event, over 300 New Haven youth
participate in a variety of sports clinics run by over 100 Yale
student-athletes and coaches. Held
on the athletic fields by the Bowl, children spend the morning being
active, learning and playing sports, and meeting Yale student-athletes.
Each Youth Day is centered on a different theme.
Past themes include teamwork, educations, self-worth, confidence,
and discipline. In addition to the clinics, all youth are involved in an
Olympic-like opening ceremonies, receive athlete's autographs and
receive a free t-shirt and picnic lunch before attending the day's
athletic competitions free of charge.
